Senseless death

R.I.P Michael Holt aka Mr. Terrific.
Cause of death : shitty writing by unoriginal creative team hellbent on destroying anything good about the JSA. Coincidentally, he was stabbed in the back.

One of the few brilliant black characters that didn't fall into any of comics' usual stereotype of visible minorities. He was brilliant (3rd smartest man on Earth apparently, "Holt is also a polymath who has specialized in multiple fields of medicine, engineering, and science. He possesses 14 Ph.D's (two of which are in engineering and physics)"...wikipedia.) and one of the few positive portrayals of atheists in comics.

What was her name?

I'm quite excited about the new Flight of the Conchords album. I'm not convinced it's as good as the first album, but I think it's fantastic nonetheless. I really hope the reports of their burn out and hiatus are greatly exaggerated.

This song in particular makes me smile and swoon as I hear it. It makes me want to fall in love again, even if the love is just in my mind :

All the Pretty Girls

Does this sound like Queen to anyone else but me? This is the band "fun." with "all the pretty girls."

It seems every new band I listen to just sounds exactly like something out of the 70s and 80s. I really enjoy the music, but it all sounds incredibly familiar.

I can't stop listening to this song. I'm convinced the 80s have come back in the form of Indie Rock. This screams Billy Idol meets Duran Duran. Not to mention Creature sounds like the B-52s and Wild Beasts sound like the Psychedelic Furs...

Also, this song is disco-rock fantastic!

Planetary #27

Absolutely fucking fantastic. The Archeologists of the Impossible, indeed!

John Cassaday draws beautiful things while Warren Ellis fills up word balloons with quantum physics and deep characterization. This is how you write a comic book.

Planetary has been one of the strongest examples of what you can do with this medium and I'm both sad to see it go and relieved to see it finished (it took a few years for the last issue to come out). To anyone who is kind of a fan of science fiction, or really, any fantastically written, stunningly illustrated books : check this series out. They're available as graphic novels (I picked them up at the library in Sudbury!) and the first volume of the "absolute edition" is out in hard cover as well.
